An official Castlevania-ed Touhou game, a stylish cute new Cirno, and the next addition of the line in the form of Undefined Fantastic Object. Wonderful news! The demo of Touhou UFO was new and exciting too as you get to play as Sanae this time around. Sweetness!

I just beat Flandre. Feelin' pretty cool now, yeah. Yeeeeah, cool vampire beating dude. So cool I feel the need to let people on the internet know I beat a boss in a video game.

usually, i'm not a fan of Touhou. but this was pretty fun. i beat the stage portion on my first try; there was nothing difficult about it. the boss, on the other hand, took me three tries. for bullethell, that was still tame, though.

there's also Genji the flying turtle (but hes from PC98), the pink cloud Unzan, and a few off-screen ones such as Youki Konpaku. Rinnosuke is just the only known humanoid male around that isn't dead or missing.

I actually have every Touhou game made (including fan versions and spin offs), most of the online manga that has been released, TONS of Touhou pics both nuaghty and nice ;), and every track of music from all the games (even the ones that werent included in the soundtest) and most of the remixes I've been able to find. ^^ There ya go! You and this guy (http://www.youtube.com/trickmastermint) should hang out sometime, lol. I actually have a DL of SWR's soundtrack too, though its the only one that I have so far. I did see a lot of Touhou remix and arrangement soundtracks at a DoujinStyle thread, and this summer's Comiket had a lot.
I've seen my share of naughty Touhou images too (mainly on pixiv), though I can't particularly save them into this computer since its my brother's... Although I'm not really a hentai person myself. \~.~/ Though I will say I've seen Patchouli artworks with some nice and fluffy pillows. <3 ^.^

I did see a lot of Touhou remix and arrangement soundtracks at a DoujinStyle thread, and this summer's Comiket had a lot.
I've seen my share of naughty Touhou images too (mainly on pixiv), though I can't particularly save them into this computer since its my brother's... Although I'm not really a hentai person myself. \~.~/ Though I will say I've seen Patchouli artworks with some nice and fluffy pillows. <3 ^.^

I downloaded Touhou 12.8 ~ Fairy Wars the other day, plus I just recently downloaded Doujin MegaMari ~ Marisa's Ambition as well as SRW. Aside from those the only Touhou relaited stuff I have are sprite rips. I'm SOOO behind the times. :P
Other than that I'm good with that. Along with the Touhou Anime I downloaded off of Youtube.

I'm really behind the main series' storyline (the ones from ZUN) mainly because the shooters are hard and I try so hard to get into the game's Extra Stage. Although I've heard from a few people that the Touhou story really isn't worth playing for as for the game's art quality. I, for one, will agree that ZUN's art is mediocre, but to me, there's people in this world whose art is [parasitic bomb] compared to ZUN (and that's regardless of what anyone does).

There are no words that can describe the level of awesome that colonel_aki has made in this 4koma series. Its sorta like Lucky Star, though this series centers the daily lives of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Cute artstyle, great and witty humor, lots of video game and anime references. So I want to start collecting those Touhou games, and play all of them (and maybe possibly beat them).
I used to play Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Megamai, Immaterial and Missing Power and that Super Marisa Land thing.
I also had/have shitload of translated doujins(non-hentai) which I used to read... and had a lot of music once (bbut not anymore).

Me too. Patchouli's my personal favorite of all the Touhou characters because she looks so adorable. (She's probably one of the few lolis that I like to be busty) Plus she's a powerful magician, which sorta makes up for her weak physical strength. >w<

I got my hands on Touhou 01 - 05 for Anex86 (PC-98 emulator). Score! And guess I found at DoujinStyle. A fan-made clone of I Wanna Be the Guy except with Reimu by the staff at DoujinStyle. Like IWBTG, its freeware but its in beta right now.

I just got word from DoujinStyle that Frontier Aja, the doujin circle behind Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony (http://aja-games.com/products_koumajo/), are going to make a sequel called Koumajou Densetsu II (http://aja-games.com/aja_blog/?cat=5) (correct me if I'm wrong) for Retaisai SP. It looks like Sakuya is going to be playable along with Hong Meiling as a support character, along with some new faces appearing in this installment of the series. Here's some pics for you.

So I played the demo, and here's my impression of the sequel...
For starters, its still the stage-by-stage gameplay like the first game (or the earlier Castlevania games), but it kinda feels like running through the stages like Alucard from Symphony of the Night since Sakuya is using a knive to strike down her enemies instead of a whip that Reimu Belmont uses. Unlike Reimu, Sakuya's ↑ +Attack move is not as useless as Reimu's amulets projectiles and does some quick damage, albeit short-ranged. In the demo, Sakuya can use Hong Meiling as an assist character (akin to Marisa and Cirno in the first game) to attack air-borne enemies, throwing knives, and her pocket watch to stop / slow time. Sakuya can also backstep and follow it up with a quick knife attack, jump kick to kick and bounce off enemies (think of the Leap Stone from Symphony of the Night or similar ability sans the double-jump), and a very limited hovering ability that eats up her MP (?).
The demo is only one stage long, but the length of the stage is decent, there's bigger areas to traverse and some tricky platforming to get with it. The enemies ranges from similar enemies from Castlevania (zombies, bats, skeletons, etc. ) to sword-wielding, spear-wielding, ax-throwing, bullet-spitting fairy maids from the first game. And the some enemies and bosses can STILL land unfair critical-hits at you. Ouch. And Chen is no pushover (at least from my experience).
The demo is at the Mediafire link, but I found out that you'll need AppLocale or change the Unicode settings to Japanese to play the demo, or else you'll get a black screen when the game starts up.

Touhou Castlevania is fanmade, and so is the game that you linked too. You may be able to find the sprites somewhere by searching for them.
Edit: From what I have seen of the game (I've read nothing on it) it seems really weird....

That really depends. The official ones are bullet hell top down shooter games, and some fighting games. Fanmade games rage from platformers to RPGs..so it's really just what you preffer more.
And yes, it means exactly that :P

For platformers, definitely recommending New Super Marisa Land since its more of traditional Mario clone and the art is - dare I say it - adorable. F.Y.I. the artist who worked on New Super Marisa Land is an H-doujin artist like WOMI with Rosenkreuzstilette. MarisaLa (just so I don't confuse anyone between this and New Super Marisa Land) is not a bad game, but it is just endlessly going through levels. MegaMari is painfully difficult, Touhou + MegaMan don't mix well with me, but controlling two different characters with their own weapon set is an interesting twist. It's not a bad game, but it is BRUTAL. Koumajou Densetsu just makes the old Castlevania game even harder. It's challenging and it pretty hard. I couldn't go into the second half of the game without getting slaughtered, but thankfully it does have a save function so you can pick up from the last stage you're on. I have to look into Sanae Challenge! sometime.
For fighting, there's only the official fighting games from Twilight Frontier. Immaterial and Missing Power does a pretty complex fighting system that I had to watch a tutorial on it (here's the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5NyiGU5EOg)) and yet I couldn't perform any good combos. In the Story Mode, you have to defeat your opponent more than once since they use Spellcards like the shooting games. There's no official online play for IaMP, but there is program for it called CowCaster that gets you online play although I don't use it myself. Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and the expansion pack Hisoutensoko's fighting system is different from IaMP; the combo system is more simplified and you can collect Spellcards that can alter your moveset and power up your characters (almost like the BLEACH DS fighting game but not as noobish with the power ups). SWR and Soko have (official) online play, too. Patchy was always my main in these games.
Now for RPGs, I'd recommend Labyrinth of Touhou Special Disc and Pocket Wars since there's English patches for those games (although I'm not sure about Pocket Wars Evo Plus). Labyrinth of Touhou's gameplay is focused on team management to ensure you teams TP does not run out during dungeon excursions, but the game does allow you to decide how to develop your character stats by spending Skill Points and level bonuses into their stats (do NOT use it on Evade since a programing flaw broke this stat and rendered useless). There's also a HUGE roster of Touhou characters to choose from, if you can get them to join you that is. I can't say anything on Pocket Wars since I never played them.

Yeah, funny how the same thing happened to me when I tried downloading Touhou 07.5 ~ Immaterial and Missing Power from Twilight Frontier's site only to find out they're only patches for the game. Unless the game is freeware (i.e. Vanguard Princess, Blue Wish Resurrection PLUS, Reflection), the doujin circle's site only provides update patches and/or demos of their games. The only (legal) way of getting these games is through doujin retailers like Melonbooks, Toranoana, or get someone who can help in getting these games for you. Otherwise, you're gonna have to resort to the internet if piracy isn't an issue.

I don't think it's ever said that there is a road ,and even if there is one it's probably overgrown becuase no one goes to the Hakurei Shrine except for Yokai (they're the reason why there are no humans at the shrine, and they can fly~).

The Lake of Blood is up amongst some mountains and was the setting of Lotus Land Story's 2nd Stage. As such, it has yet to make any appearance in the Windows games.
However, Yuuka's appearance would indicate it's still around up in the mountains, since the Lake of Blood leads to Mugenkan, Yuuka's own little Dreamworld of sorts. Other notable locations from the PC98 games include the Forest of Magic, in which Meira appeared; Hell, which appeared in 11 and of course, Makai, which appeared in 12. Given Makai's confirmed continuity, it can be assumed such for the Lake of Blood, Mugenkan, and any other locations only appearing in the PC98 games.
Or so the little birdie told me.

Mr. P informed me of this threads recent spur of activity. Im the little birdie that gave him that list and info on the Lake of Blood. Given your question I cant be bothered to relay it all via Mr. P on IRC so Ill just do it myself. (Hes asleep right now anyways)
Youre going to need a PC98 Emulator, theres a variety of them. Most would suggest Anex86, but personally I go with T98 Next. It can be gotten here (http://www.zophar.net/pc98/t98-next.html). For the disk image files, Google it.
P.S. There are way better vocal arranges than Bad Apple. Srsly

You need a PC-98 emulator to play the PC-98 Touhou games. Here's a tutorial on working a PC-98 emu.

According grgspunk at DoujinStyle, T-98 Next is recommended for playing the Touhou PC-98 games. Not every PC-98 emulator is compatible with every game; I tried playing Rusty (that Castlevania-clone with a half-naked chick) on one emu an it don't worked on that one, but I tried on another and it worked. So it might be a good idea to get all there of the emus shown on the vid if you plan to play other PC-98 games.

Not that Masayoshi Minoshima's version isn't good, but there are better singers than nomico, and his arrangement stops sounding like Bad Apple!! after a while anyway. I've grown to love "Think of You" from NJK Record, because it sounds more like the original composition and it's EUROBEAT. Can't go wrong either way.

The place is pretty secure when it comes to using credit/debit cards, and they appear to have something called "JPoints" for English users (which seems silly to me since it's just a proxy that'll use your card info anyway), but hey, whatever you use is up to you. I can't imagine why you'd be willing to use PayPal, which is infamous for problems, and not willing to use the site directly, unless it specifically has to do with insecurity involving your card, in which case I do believe you can purchase a prepaid Visa debit card that will work just fine.

It's a pretty terrible one, if you ask me. Of course, if you don't want to give your information to some random website, a friend of mine is living in Japan and runs a service where he'll pretty much get you anything that isn't H-related and send it to you, charging you exactly what he pays. Many of the users, including myself, on another forum (http://shrinemaiden.org/forum) I staff have taken advantage of this and gotten everything from Touhou games to doujinshi to Griffon figures and Gift plushies. TDOMMX and I were actually able to grab physical copies of Rosenkreuzstilette through him, which appears to be absolutely impossible nowadays. Those are essentially your best options, though.

Fair enough, though I'd argue the merit of purchasing doujin games in the same way one would purchase most indie games (many of the profits go straight to the developer), but I digress~ Can't win 'em all, I guess!
As for PayPal, there are terrible stories of account freezing and other forms of lacking support. There are a few websites dedicated solely to how terrible PayPal is, actually (though, admittedly, they're stuck in the GeoCities '90s in terms of web design)! This isn't the place for that, though. I use them and haven't had any personal problems, but I know they've some glaring issues in the past and present that they refuse to admit fault for or fix. The only thing I have problems with paypal is that I have no clue how to make a transaction from my bank to my paypal, it's infuriating.

It's a pretty terrible one, if you ask me. Of course, if you don't want to give your information to some random website, a friend of mine is living in Japan and runs a service where he'll pretty much get you anything that isn't H-related and send it to you, charging you exactly what he pays. Many of the users, including myself, on another forum (http://shrinemaiden.org/forum) I staff have taken advantage of this and gotten everything from Touhou games to doujinshi to Griffon figures and Gift plushies. TDOMMX and I were actually able to grab physical copies of Rosenkreuzstilette through him, which appears to be absolutely impossible nowadays. Those are essentially your best options, though.
I should talk to this guy sometime, once I'm able to buy stuff online myself that is. I really want to actually buy some of these games and soundtracks (because personally, I rather have a physical copy of the game rather than data) from doujin circles like SITER SKAIN (http://siterskain.com/) (the shoot 'em up circle behind Kamui, RefleX, and ALLTYNEX Second), Twilight Frontier, and Frontier Aja. But as of now, I have no PC of my own (and I really need one), no credit card, and I just blew $70 for The Orange Box, a Nintendo Points card, and a pair of pants...

My brother's PC can run Dead Space 2 at full-screen with 1440x900 resolution (which is the highest this monitor can go), anti-aliasing and high / very high shader and detail settings just fine, ALLYTNEX Second at 60 FPS no problem, Tenshou Tenshi VALFORCE A-OK, and yet Dynamarisa's demo (and probably the full game once it comes out) gets horrendous load times - load times that take up 5-10 minutes to load the game between stages - on my brother's PC? B(
Either my brother needs to get a new processor, or this game needs to be fixed to stop these forsaken load times for less-than-stellar processors. LOL, since when did doujin games became as demanding as Western PC games?

Saw those last night during a livestream. I'm liking the final boss a bit, especially their very UNCE UNCE stage theme. Everyone's been calling her DJ Youkai. Given the longass name I think I'll be using that to.
Also just WTF at the EX Boss. Though I find it ironic there was a fan character from ages back that was Chen's own shikigami, and was the same species.

yeaaa haven't even tried the demo. I've been playing Hopeless Masquerade which came out simultaneously though. Things have been considerably simplified compared to the previous fighting spin offs, but I'm generally having a much better time because of it. Puts me on more even ground with my friends, for now at least. Been using Reimu the most because her teleport kick and barrier attacks are too much fun to throw people off with. That being said Koishi's a [lightning web] with her counter of sorts that triggers from a circle she spawns that if not activated can take up 80% OF THE WHOLE [tornado fang]ing SCREEN. Even when keeping distance and managing to knock her off guard the move is still in effect. Such bullshit. But yeah other than that, good times.

yeah. this past Sunday along with 14's demo. It's in need of more patching though, namely being able to actually play as the final boss in VS. mode. Apparently they couldn't balance her in time and fix some major bugs such as the game crashing when about to face the final boss in story mode or using one simple move with Koishi. The latter two have been resolved at least. but it's pretty [tornado fang]ing sad. This isn't the big commercial gaming industry Tasofro, take your damn time as needed.

I'm proud to announce that "Double Dealing Character", the full game, has been released. I wish there were some full playthrough vids. I'm eager to know how twisted is Kijin Seija's reverse psychology, in-game.

That’s right! With the upcoming release of Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character, we’re kicking open the floodgates and introducing Touhou to the English speaking world. This will mark the very first official release of a Touhou title in English speaking territories.
The Touhou Project, now helmed solely by creator Zun, was first started in 1995 with its first release: Highly Responsive to Prayers. After a three year absence following the release of the 5th Touhou title, Zun finally returned to Touhou, formed Team Shanghai Alice, and continued to work on the series independently.
Since then, the Touhou series has become a cult favorite among gamers around the world, has had countless games using the series’ characters, and become a veritable phenomenon in the doujin gaming scene.

Finally, after two decades of this series' existence, we can buy these games the easy way a Touhou has getting an official overseas release. This could mean other games in the series could be brought overseas (like the fighting games), or maybe even update some of the older ones to work better on today's Windows operating systems, or even port them to Mac and Linux if they got the programmers who can do a decent porting job. Before this, there was talk of bringing some of the fan games onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita (http://gematsu.com/2014/12/ps4-ps-vita-touhou-project-lineup-confirmed), but this is probably the series first step into Western shores. Even though I suck miserably at the shoot 'em ups, but I'm looking forward to the possibilities this could open.

Probably 0% chance of happening, but I'd love for an English release of Phantasmagoria of Flower View to be updated with better netplay. That aside, really glad to see this finally happening. Wonder if Steam will be an option down the line. Could be bull but I thought I heard that ZUN actually likes the platform.
Also, any other peeps here read the official Touhou manga? In particular the two ongoing ones Wild and Horned Hermit and Forbidden Scrollery are really damn good for any seasoned fan. Lots of world building and much needed character interaction outside of the usual bizarre dialogue in the games. Also Marisa is the most [tornado fang]ing adorable thing in every single appearance she makes in them

Yesterday Playism has brought out Touhou 14 ~ Double Dealing Character (oddly enough, it's not officially translated but there appears to be a patch for that already), fresh out of Playism's bakery is illuCalab's Takkoman -Kouzatsu World-. Since some of us already dabbed into the former already, let's get into the latter of the two recent offerings.

Looking for a fast-paced Mega Man Zero-styled action-platformer? Is Megamari not badass enough for you? Then this game might be the answer you've been looking for. Enter Takorin, a Flandre Scarlet yukkuri(?) from the Takorin tribe whom preserve chaos of Kouzatsukyo (or rather "order" in this game's world) and she makes it her business to kick, slash, shoot up other yukkuri-like abominations and sentient food items from breaching Gensokyo (or something of that nature). The game feels like a Devil May Cry version of Mega Man Zero with the hectic pace of the action and rewards you for doing well, and like Zero from Mega Man X/Zero you gain techniques from the bosses you defeat.
Touhou 14 ~ Double Dealing Character (http://playism-games.com/game/215/double-dealing-character) and Takkoman -Kouzatsu World- (http://playism-games.com/game/214/takkoman) can be yours for $14.99 and $9.99, respectively.
On the PlayStation side of things, Play, Doujin! will be bringing out souvenir circ.'s Maihana Soumakyou ~ Uniting Barrage Action (they also made Cröixleur Sigma) and CUBETYPE's Gensou no Rondo for the PlayStation 4, both boasting updated HD graphics and new features not seen in their original PC counterparts. Vita owners will be getting Mystery Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire with graphical and gameplay improvements. Not sure if Play, Doujin! are planning on bringing any of these games to West, though.

Maihana Soumakyou ~ Uniting Barrage Action is, more-or-less, a horizontal version of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil a lá Deathsmiles, although Sanae from Mountain of Faith makes an appearance in this one as a boss. The PS4 port will also feature a new playable character (it seems to be Alice judging by the comparison shot of the character select screen). Release date hasn't been announced yet.

Genso no Rondo is essentially a Touhou-fied version of G.rev's unappreciated Senko no Ronde. It's a fighting game in which you fight your opponents in a circular arena by using various bullet attacks, special barrage attacks, and the occasional melee strikes. You can also draw out spell card to unleash devastating bullet hell patterns not unlike the B.O.S.S. Mode Senko no Ronde's Rounders. The PS4 version will feature rebalanced gameplay, new characters, new story scenarios, and online play through PlayStation Network; there will also be a PS4 theme to go with it. Oddly enough, according to the developers, G.rev will also be behind licensing the PS4 port. Will be released on June 25th, 2015.

Mystery Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire is a rogue-like from Aquastyle which features Reimu as the protagonist. You'll explore randomly-generated dungeons for loot, upgrade said loot, and kill stuff while avoid getting yourself killed, but there are times when the game will throw a curveball at you by giving you special rules and restrictions like "you can't use X item" or "you can only take X Character to tag along with you." The Vita version is based on the PC version's Mystery Gensokyo 3+, and will add new gameplay enhancements (new dungeons, partners, scenarios, et cetera) and features to accommodate portability. Additionally, PC players can import their save file into the Vita version so they can start a new game with the items they collected. Will also be out on June 25th, 2015, and will feature a Limited Edition version that comes with a Vita/smartphone stand, an artbook, a soundtrack/audio drama CD, and a Vita theme.

(For some reason the listed these as derivative games yet some of the official games like Hisoutensoku are cropping up.) Not only this, but during a radio show the other day, ZUN revealed that Touhou 14.5 is getting a PS4 port. It'll be the first of any official title on a console after a year or so of fangames ported. Now I just pray for a Vita port and NIS to get localization. Though the latter may be more uncertain than Gensou Rondo since that game got an english patch from the devs to begin with.

Here's 14.5 won't come out on PS4 with only Moonrunes and PC players of Gensou Rondo gets the PS4 enhancements, but considering that other PC indie games that were ported to PS4 — *cough (http://i.imgur.com/kD9DeXI.jpg)* *cough (http://i.imgur.com/QEwmDp1.jpg)* — I doubt the latter is going to happen.
