Capcom Announces the Start of a Major Project for Children's Content
- Alliances established with leading providers of content for children -

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce the start of a new project for children's content. As part of the project, Capcom has decided to begin selling "Gaist Crusher" in the winter of 2013, which is a completely new game for the Nintendo 3DS™.

The important theme of the new project is the creation of new Capcom content for children. Elementary school age boys are the primary target of the project. With emphasis on armors, transformations and collections, the project will utilize the cooperation of companies in a broad range of fields such as games, comics (manga), anime, music and toys. Overall, this will be an expansive cross-media project. With the number of children in Japan declining, Capcom plans to use this project to attract interest in new brands and firmly establish these brands by continuously launching a diverse range of content.

The "Gaist Crusher" game, which will be the key element of the project, is an action game that draws on two Capcom strengths. One is expertise in producing content for children that was gained from Capcom's "Mega Man" series. The other is the high-grade multiplayer capability that generated a strong response for the "Monster Hunter" series. Capcom plans to leverage these strengths to produce a game that excels in terms of both its worldview and game playing characteristics.

For cross-media activities associated with "Gaist Crusher", Capcom plans to start by using manga in the "Saikyo Jump" and "V Jump", two magazines published by Shueisha Inc.. Cross-media will also include an anime project produced by Pierrot Co., Ltd., music produced by Avex Entertainment Inc., and toys called "Gaimetal" from Bandai Co., Ltd., all linked to the new game.

Capcom is determined to continue meeting the high expectations of consumers by creating highly original new games that take full advantage of its outstanding content development skills. Furthermore, Capcom will use its multi-use approach for content with the aims of maximizing earnings and playing a role in energizing the entire content market.

I'm gonna guess that the Megaman part mostly refers to all of the EXE related cross media stuff and merchandise more than anything.

I am cautiously... pessimistic.

Not sure what anyone else would think about the game, but I feel something is off about this.

Either way this looks very interesting.

Don't be, that's what many thought of too. (Well not the Omega part but still)

Yeah I just like the Omega version of the song better.

In a world that already has "Mega Man", why would I settle for something that is "like" Mega Man?

It may very well be damn good, but what gets a negative knee-jerk response is the fact that Capcom's most significant line in that press release is when they tell us what franchises they own that this game ISN'T.  Not a particularly smart way to advertise, IMHO, but then Capcom's marketing department has generally sucked for many years.

Because it's the closest new "Mega Man" game you'll get on the 3DS. Or any system for that matter.

Does it look like a Mega Man game? Sure.

Does it play like a Mega Man game? Not really.

Character =/= gameplay formula.  Not only is your statement also true of Gaist, but one could just as easily take that same stance towards Command Mission or Legends.

From what I see in that trailer, Gaist's gameplay looks a lot more like Power Stone or a faster-paced Monster Hunter than it does any 3D venture of Mega Man's.

Can't argue with that.

The thing is, I was kinda looking at Gaist's gameplay as a system "similar to Legends 3"; as norrow-minded as that may sound. Both have that colorful cel-shaded and dynamic look, with similar looking melee combos shown back in the days of the Dev Room. But yeah, I see what you mean.

Combining Mega Man with anything is a recipe for disaster.

I really don't get the appeal of Monster Hunter.

This game will be a pass. That is considering it even leaves Japan.

Isn't that an action game though?

Monster Hunter's more like an MMO from what I hear.

and like all MMO's and MMO like games, its best to not bother.

I wouldn't be surprised if Monster Hunter is a MMO, and I'm not that interested in MMOs.

Or you could just download the demo from the eShop.

God Eater's story is crap IMO.

I couldn't get through that [parasitic bomb]. Not even with my friend.

Then again, I don't really like the gameplay either.

Welp.

Welp.
I can understand that, I'll readily admit while I like the story the pacing of it wasn't that great and the game does have some glaring flaws.  I honestly think the Extra Story in burst might have made it even worse.
Since Lindow comes back to life at the end.  I love the guy a lot, but I think it would have been better if he stayed dead.
Not to mention it's somewhat predictable.
I was able to predict that Johannes was the big bad right away even with the Japanese version.  Doesn't help he looks like Schneizel to me for some odd reason.
I also think there's way too many main story missions that don't move the plot along, even worse in the extra story when you can go like about 5 missions before even getting a cut scene.  I can't even begin to think how to LP such a game with how long some missions can run.

Then there's the weapon making where you can't even exchange materials with other players just to get that one part to finish the weapon you want so bad.  The drop rates for certain materials may as well be non existent, sometimes I would have to get a whole bunch of other stuff just to synthesize one item when a weapon requires like 5 of it.

Then there's some annoying Aragami that I hate oh so much.  Dyaus Pitas, most members of the Chiyou family, the last member of the Kongu family, and those freaking Sariels.  I mean my god I hate Sariels because they are specifically made to be blasted with your gun and I don't use guns.  I can't get past one mission in the Extra Story because they decide to pair a Dyaus Pita and a Aether, and I know after that mission I have to do 3 missions with only one party member that kinda sucks.

All in all I like the game, but there are somethings that could have been done better and I hope the second game fixes a lot of these things.

To play a demo with a stupid ass touch screen control scheme?  No thanks.

You're overreacting. You get used to it.

It's mainly for camera control, and it's not that bad.

You know what else had a touch screen camera?

Kid Icarus Uprising. Which I found myself unable to play because of multiple factors including arm strain, the fact that the stand kept sliding back, and the fact that I'm left handed.

I knew someone was going to bring this up.

Personally, I didn't have a problem with Uprising's controls after the first couple of days playing it. When I first began the land battle stages, I hated the configuration. However I quickly grew comfortable with it, and I even appreciated it (though the CPP analog should've been used for camera control). Hell, my hands never cramped up either.

Guess I'm one of the very few who don't hate the controls.

I would never know about Kid Icarus: Uprising's controls unfortunately since I don't have a 3DS, but if Sin & Punishment and TWEwY is anything to go by, I'll probably get used to the controls sooner or later.

It was mainly frustration with the stand not staying still, the other problems only came up because of that.

I used the stand like one time. But I much prefer to just hold the system.

Yeah, same. I think I used the stand like once or twice; it's much easier without that thing.
