Title: It begins... (DSi firmware wars)
Post by: Hypershell on August 01, 2009, 12:50:03 AM: Flash carts haven't even accessed DSi's native mode yet, but Nintendo is wasting no time.

Waiting on actual DSi-mode access, I never did get a replacement card. Still, surprised it came to this already.

Especially since I spend money on VC/Wii Ware games, I'm afraid that the Wii will get the same update treatment. :'(

Nintendo never outright uninstalled the Homebrew Channel, but they did block installation methods (which were of course replaced by new ones) and they've already fixed it so that HBC cannot be transferred back to the console from an SD card should you remove it. And of course, numerous Wii updates have been required for continued use of the shop channel.

So, the current record for DSi's anti-piracy firmware updates being effective is exactly 7 days. I guess that's fairly long considering the overnight breaks that usually happen.

There's no actual reason to get a DSi. There are no exclusive titles and most new features are just gimmicks.

Yeah, the DSi is a more powerful system, but Nintendo fast-launched it and so nobody's actually using it for anything worthwhile. Hopefully that'll change.
