X / Re: Reploid reviving
« on: July 07, 2012, 06:45:34 PM »
I always liked Metal Shark Player, dunno why but him just bringing back dead mavericks has always made him an interesting boss for me.

You guys pretty much listed off the reasons why Reploid Reviving is illegal, though I've always found it weird that Reploids have DNA, even though they were created in labs, if you have DNA that means you are a living being, I never noticed how advanced the future in the X series and so on is, hell it makes you wonder if they can bring back dead humans as well, then again there is probably a law against that as well.

Wait, it's nearly done!?! Damn I didn't know progress was going THAT smoothly! And here I though nearly all Megaman fan games are empty promises.  8D

Probably, but hey wouldn't that be a good thing? Besides while the characters work for a tradtional fighter (MVC and SVC show good examples), having a game based on the entire MM series wouldn't really work I think unless it was a game like Smash Bros, Playstation All-Stars, or Onimusha Blade Warriors.

Zero / Re: What if Mega Man X was the bad guy?

Command Mission was released prior to X8 and going directly from X8 into it leaves too many unanswered questions with Axl.  If he returns to action with an enhanced copy ability and no consequences otherwise prior to X9, then there's no sense in killing him off, and the sinister foreboding of X8's ending is all for nothing (at least in the case of him personally).  While it's true that we don't know the exact timeframe between games, Axl's dialogue in XCM implies that he's been separated from X and Zero for a while.

And it's not that copy chips (besides Axl's, I mean) don't appear in XCM, they do.  It's that they're referenced as a long lost piece of technology, basically a "holy grail" to thieves and bounty hunters.  Marino failed to track down any copy-capable Reploids (which are common as dirt in X8) before she met Axl.

Also, this is just speculation on my part, but I believe that XCM was purposefully distanced from the main X series in both time and setting so as to excuse the fact that usual non-playable support characters do not appear.  It's not really meant to flow in between main series games in the way that, say, the Xtremes are.

I know CM came out before X8, but both games specificaly state which years they are in (well as specific as Megaman games can get with years), It's still 21XX for X8 and 22XX for CM. Now that does make a lot of sence, that CM is the future of the X games in terms of timeline, but until X9 does come out we can't be exactly sure if CM takes place far into the future for the X series or not. I mean as X8 stated at the end they stopped making the copy chips after X8, only for them to make more of them years later. YEARS later, as in it could have been a long time for them to make that choice to reproduce them, so for all we know X9 could take place after CM. It MIGHT I'm not saying that it does, and while I like it that CM can eventually set itself in the timeline like the Xtreme did (if my theory is moot, which it probably is), that would mean that Axl's future after X8 is set in stone, meaning we already know that he's okay and not a threat to anyone. It makes Axl's ending in X8 underwelming if that's the case (which it probably is). Not that I don't want him to survive (or die and pull a Sigma and Zero), I like the character, he brings Bass' gameplay from MM&B and MM10 into the X series. I do wonder what happens to him after the X series though, I mean during the Elf Wars timeline that is, then again I can say that about everyone else but X and Zero. He's probably dead by then.

Massimo is cool, and Marino is sexylicious~ :3

Ditto :3

I would love to play as CM's cast in a traditional X game though, Cinnamon and Marino especially!  owo <3

Man I still gotta complete Continuum Shift's story...that and the arcade mode sence I did both at the same time for Calamity Trigger. Question though, when you get Extend as a retail game does it add-on like what SSFIV Arcade Edition did for SSFIV?

Hey, I liked Tidus!

Then again I also like Vaan and Hope.

You just need to stop whining, you're starting to sound like Tidus.
As long as he doesn't laugh like Tidus...

*shudders*

Mirby: O RLY!? Well then, you asked for it...

AHHHH-HAHAHAHA-AHHHH-HAHAHAHA-AHHHH-HAHAHAHA-AHHHH-HAHAHAHA  >BD

hehehe, just messing with you.

Matou Sakura: Look I don't mean to whine but compared to the other heroes before him he's the weakest of them, I mean look you can have a high strong character and all (though would it kill them to tone down how annoying they can be?) but really when it comes to Tidus it feels like he's being forced to you that "He's the hero, love him!1!1!1!!!1!" throughout the game. Sure he does some good things like bringing Yuna out of her shell but everything he does makes him look like an ass while doing it. I've seen a whole playthrough of it and really Tidus never grows that much throughout the game, granted he's a hero up until the end and sure I'll admit that was a rather valor move that was really impressive. I can respect that but really he just didn't apeal to me (That and the less then stelar english voice acting throughout the game didn't help either when it came to mostly everybody, but that was the first FF game with voice acting so that's kinda understandable), I did like his weapons though and you're free to like whatever character you want.  :)

Vaan I don't have a problem with, from what I know he's a kid and he looks rather brave, what of it (But would it kill him to have a damn shirt on.)? Funny thing is I have XII but I have no motivation to play it. I got it and figured I'd play it later but after I had it I wasn't interested. Hope is XIII-2's main hero right? Don't know about her but I heard the XIII-1 cast was decent at least.

It would be really sweet to have a remake of VI for the 3DS, well V too but I haven't played that one yet. Hell why not have the best of both worlds and remake BOTH V and VI and put them on the same cart? Then again that might be too much...or maybe not I don't have a 3DS and I don't exactly know how powerful the 3DS is but from what I've seen I think it could handle it, maybe.  :P

Also sence I've never played IX I wouldn't mind a remake of that either, hell the only main FF games that don't have remakes are from the PS1 era (Played VII only, talked about to death but still a good game), sadly of all the games they can remake SE is remaking X instead.  -AC

...now I don't mind the gameplay, at it's core it's still the FF we all know and enjoy but the story and characters, MY GOD. I mean other then Aeon, the raven haired women, and Jecht ALL of the character are mainly stupid and annoying, ESPECIALLY TIDUS. The saddest thing is he was suppose to have a better personality (or in this case A personality) when the game was being developed (he was going to be this yakuza-like street punk, now THAT sounds like a hero to me!!! Well an Anti Hero but hell anything is better then Tidus).

X / Re: Theory: Dr. Light Studied Duo to Create X
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:40:21 AM »
Zero's purpose only ever was as basically a robot killer to top all robot killers. Initially, just to defeat Bass and Rock, and after he learned of X, changed that to "destroy X". Either way though, Zero was ALSO always Wily's magnum opus. To be his greatest creation which would prove how much better and smarter he was than Light.

Hard to say what *exact/specific* purposes Wily made the virus for, there are a few Ideas.

The biggest one, to pacify and control Zero. We know Zero was ealed away do to a cognitive program flaw that made him extremely violent and disobedient. When he was infected in his fight with Sigma, he became normal. Under the scenario that he is bombarded with virus in X5 if you fail the shuttle, he becomes cold and uncaring, "awakening" and remembering his original mission and unbiasedly accepting it, despite all the time he has known X. The Virus also acts as some sort of power source for Zero as well, making him stronger.

It's ALSO possible, and likely, that Wily's revival "through the virus" was planned as well.

And it's also possible he wanted to try and repeat his plan from 10, virus to make robots go nuts/control them, and the wrench in the works was that Sigma bonded with his virus and Zero, being infected as well, forgot his mission and became a normal level headed reploid.

On X- Both X1 and MHX seem to suggest that Light considered the idea that robots needed to have complete and true free will, the kind X has- and also figured the future would need someone like Rock to protect them. So he made X. He also figured that after the events of 10, that X might fight robots with similar viruses in the future, and gave him perfect virus countermeasures.

But nothing to suggest that Light had learned of Zero, OR that Duo had any influence.

Though then again, if the Evil alien robot was what inspired Wily to make airborne energy based viruses, then its certainly possible Duo inspired SOMETHING.

Pretty much, though I wasn't exactly sure if Wily ever knew about X (I had my doubts), But thinking over it I think he knew considering Zero's intro in X4 and X's Dialogue with Sigma in X5, though the latter has (as of yet) never been established and only raises more questions, like did Dr. Light have a helping hand creating X? If that's the case then yes, Wily knew about X and later programmed Zero to end him, Now THAT'S a hell of a theory!

As for your theories on the virus, they sound very concrete. I mean after all Wily doesn't look like the most competent A.I. programmer, considering how Bass and many others turned out.  XD

Though I've always wondered if the Virus was a way to draw out Zero's latent power, considring the incident in X5, that it was a program not only to spread mass chaos but to also a command to use Zero's full strength it seems so. Years later however Wiel managed to do that with Zero's body with his Omega AI, but that's because Wiel managed to understand Zero's inner workings when he took the body, and later used the Dark Elf as a way similar to how Wily used the Virus for Zero in order to draw out the body's true power. (Sorry I got a little side tracked there)

As for X, well I already knew that. I mean after all those years of fighting a mad man of course Light is going to end up arming X to the teeth with constant weaponry, though that counter for viruses seems to make perfect sence considering X can never get infected, thank you Megaman 10! Also I never said Light knew about Zero, see Zero interact with a Light Capsule in X5, I said that because some other people thought about that in this topic and I said that it was too far-fetched. No big deal really.

Man these theories can get exausting can they?  o-O

Zero / Re: What if Mega Man X was the bad guy?

Axl can't die in X9, Mike; he has to survive to appear in Command Mission during 22XX, after Copy Chip technology has all but vanished and Axl's own copy abilities have been noticeably improved.
I hate to say this, since yeah Iris died in that game, but dragging his girlfriend into it (or hell, even establishing that Zero has any social life to begin with) was pretty much necessary for him to believably do anything other than just be an unresponsive hardass for the entire game.

Zero in X1-3 shoots first and talks later.  He looks badass while doing it due to dramatic timing, but if you're going to play the whole game as him, then yeah, it'll take more than that.  X4 delivered on him, at least.  For X they kinda always had his character set up but never really depicted it in-game before, so they got to do something that looked fresh on the surface but was old news to people who were paying attention during the solemn ending texts of the SNES.

It's kinda funny how people think that Zero "stole the spotlight" in the PS1 games, when truly in the SNES games X didn't do a damn thing in terms of characterization.  MHX definitely helped him out quite a bit in that department, but it's the especially young/naive/inexperience X1 X, not the leader of the Hunters that we respect in the later games.  That particular element of X's character is a bit of a void, with nothing beyond the basic premise of "hates fighting unless it's Sigma" and no further fleshing out, all the way up until X6.

It wasn't just X that got the short end of the stick, though, the supporting cast took some hits as well.  Much as I love Iris, in X4 she is an entirely passive character who exists for no reason other than invoking emotion from Zero (in Xtreme2 she actually, you know, did something), it's just that we're following up the Super NES so expectations in story-telling weren't that high yet, but there was a lot of missed potential there.  And I really can't tell you how much I disliked Alia in X5 (I mean besides the constant gameplay interruptions).  Her dialogue came off as heartless, stuck-up, and married to her work.  X6 gave her both a backstory and a personality, which in turn made her more believable as a "big sister" type character in X7 and X8.

You know the ending of X8 DID say that years later the new gen reploids with the copy chip went back into production, it didn't say HOW many years later they did. So for all we know, CM takes place after X8 and before X9 (Whenever the hell that's made). Besides it's never established what the XX in 21XX is, it could have been 2150 or 2160 for all we know in the first X game, therefore setting up for 22XX in CM. Then again that's another topic all together, I'm just saying CM might take place before X9. That and I never finished CM, I know the basic plot and ending of it but still I could just be off this whole time. Also about the SNES X games come to think about it what did we really know about Megaman in his NES days? I mean sure he got double the games X did in his debut console but really other then some subtle differences both characters backgrounds weren't given much depth either, then again those were different times in the gaming industry.

X / Re: Theory: Dr. Light Studied Duo to Create X

It's not too far-fetched to consider that Light learned somethings while rebuilding Duo, and then later in his life used what he learned in order to build X, though personally I think that Light building X just to stop Wily's plans with Zero in the future is stretching it a bit, especially saying that X was made to stop Zero spreading a virus around. Personally I think Light never knew about Zero in the first place, and never learned about what Wily had in store. As for Wily however it can go either way, from the looks of things in Power Fighters, Wily started to build Zero far before Light ever started building X, considering he was already working on him (Probably started to build him after MM8 at least). Wily possibly found out about X some time later and programmed Zero to not only spread chaos across the world with his program, but to destroy the last creation of Light in order to prove who was the superior creator. That or Zero was programmed to destroy all of light's creations from the start and never knew about X, that sounds more probable sence Wily's goal with Zero WAS to destroy Megaman (and to show Bass what for to an extent).

Zero / Re: What if Mega Man X was the bad guy?

You know when it comes to the X series I've always thought that every 3 games they change the focus not on just X the whole time, but rather the other characters he works with (though this wasn't the original intension, still it ended up like it).

Megaman X1 - X3 was all about X and his constant battles between the Sigma and his forces, with Zero helping X along the way.

Megaman X4 - X6 still had X, but mostly focused on Zero when you played as him, while you learned most of Zero's background in previous games you finally got to play as him, and see just what goes through his mind so to speak. Granted it was suppose to end at X5 but with X6 made it continued the story and (whenever you want to or not) brought Zero back and tackled a new threat (at least up until the end). While it was suppose to lead up to the Zero games with X6 inticreates and Inafking desided to change things around, hence why we have Copy X today (or they didn't want X to be a bad guy after all). Honestly they didn't need to do that and just end the X series with X6 but hey I'm not complaining.

Megaman X7, X8, and probably X9 focuses on the new guy Axl and the New Generation Reploids, with Axl joining the hunters X & Zero and stopping this new threat from destroying the world. X7 (while being the weakest game in the series) sets up the stage, X8 is where it all plays out, and whenever we get a X9 it will be the certain call for Axl's story (Will he die? I don't know but if so I hope he can be brought back or something, I actually like Axl).

Now as for X being a badguy, I'm all for it! Hell Capcom can make a game about just that if they wanted to, most of what you guys posted sounds great and would be a great story with Zero and X in a conflict that they could end up killing each other. Though it's unlikely (Especially as of 2/4/12) but still if they wanted to explore other ways of taking the Series in a different turn with alternate stories of the existing sub-series that would be pretty cool. Kinda like what they did for the Battle Network/Star Force crossover in a way, or Megaman Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X.
