Thanks again, y'all!  owob

And here's a last party favor!

http://s411.photobucket.com/albums/pp191/koeiwarriors/BlackKite/?action=view&current=hokutob.jpg

much fuller scan of the first page. It also confirms Rei...as if there would be any doubt that THIS [shadow runner] wasn't going to appear.  8D

Well, I'm watching the Koei conference on Nico as I speak....and well...

AWESOME.

The game is far and away above what we've seen in musou games thus far. Animations are top notch, as is the battle system.

Oh, and I should mention....punks explode into bloody giblets.  >0< >0< >0< >0<

Only bad thing is that it's not the original VAs. But Kenshiro is being voiced by Kamina....yeah. THAT Kamina. It's all good....!

Likely won't be any good at this point (no more game footage) but here:
http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv5079980

You'd be better off waiting for some one to upload the streaming footage of the game itself later.

Posted on: October 14, 2009, 01:28:45 AM

Alrighty! Now, have some nice manly portions of footage from the show. Not high quality, of course, and unfortunately, there's no sound and overlaying niconico "moon language" but you should get the gist!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkpwZvxWWLw - In game footage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwcuBwQuYYU - Ken vs. Shin

Have some articles, too! Direct feed pics!

http://www.4gamer.net/games/098/G009896/20091014014/

And some more info.

Basically, this game does more to be based off of the original manga, more so than the anime or anything else. That's a large reason why some characters are going to colored differently than what some may have expected.

In short, you're going to have to deal with Raoh being big-ass white man with blond hair, and Rei having dark black/blue hair, which may be a bit disparaging, if you're used to the anime version's color schemes.

Game wise, there's two main modes to look forward to.

Legend Mode - Play through the original storyline, starting with Ken rescuing Lyn from the big bad gangster, Zeed. In this mode, it will be shorter, arcade-mode like stages, where Ken will make heads explode, and then take on a boss.

Illusion Mode - Basically, this will be a mode where you will get to play as any character you wish, and will get more "Musou" like conventions involved. You also will get to change the storyline around, or have made up stories, depending on your character. Hopefully, unlike say, Gundam Musou 2, this will mean actually interesting "AUs" and alternate endings. It'd be interesting to see what could have been if say, Raoh won the final fight, or so many other possibilities.

The Musou Gauge this time around is called the "Hissatsu Waza" (basically, "Sure-Killing Technique") gauge. Filling this gauge up will your character to unleash their famous attacks, such as Ken's depicted "Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken" (Hundred Burst Fist). It's stated that you'll get more of such attacks as you level up, and you'll likely get to switch them around as you see fit throughout stages.  And like in the video above, executing such techs successfully will be just like in the show....then end with the kanji being displayed on the screen with the character shouting out the attack. I appreciate such details! ^_^

Well, it was already decided when this game was teased but still....

"This game is already bought."  8D

It'd make sense, seeing how that was the "big thing" by the final fight with Raoh.

Again, they said you'd learn more skills as your characters leveled up. That pretty much would do a lot to point to Ken and Raoh probably learning that technique towards the end of their grinds.  ;)

Nah. Awesome's not STRONG enough an adjective!

"Mantastic" would be the word my friends and I would use.  8D

Man, if I had that in my house, I would use that as a means to always remind me of how much farther I can strive to be. Then I should get a keychain that, instead of WWJD, it'd be "WWKD".

But if you just want the gist? He was Kamina in TTGL.

So basically, one of the other manliest anime characters of all time, is getting the honor of playing the OG who defined the term. From what I heard at the conference last night, he did a good job.

My apologies, Ben.  I must've been distracted by Nana's rockin' tits.

Even though the whole thing seems to be getting recasted, the majority of fans don't seem to mind the new choices.

Pretty much more confirmation that it'll be released outside Japan.

Official site open

http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/hokuto/

You can see a much better quality (with sound!) footage of Ken kicking ass. No CERO rating yet, though. It'll be interesting to see how they expect to move a million units, if this game ends up being a CERO D or even Z... 8D

BAH. Don't insult Shin, by comparing him to that tea-cup collecting pansy! 8D

he may be a pansy, but he did bang and knock up Dizzy. (canon)

lame that there was no BGM in the clip.

Meh. Still don't like that [shadow runner].  8D

Any way, I dunno why there's no BGM either. Maybe they just wanted us to focus more on the screams and shouts of the grunts.

"AAARRGH...TASUKETE!!!!" *POP* 8D

Speaking of BGM, it looks like we can't count on any rendition of "YOU WA SHOCK" appearing either. They really want this to stand on its own, I guess....

There being no BGM is pointing in the way that the game will feature original BGMs, not THE original BGMs.

HD version of the clip is now up and ready to be viewed.

Loving the fact that this looking more and more like the brawlers I grew up with. I only hope the grunts do more interesting things on higher difficulties! 8D

The combat system itself seems more like DMC4s. This came up during one of the interviews and apparently the dev team didn't deny it was similar.
