I am deeply disappointed that nobody made a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 thread. Looks like I have to take the initiative. Here's everything in a nutshell...

This week, the magazine reveals the game’s new “Stage Gimmick” system. The example of this system that’s shown in Famitsu has the player slamming his opponent into wall. The wall breaks, and the opponent goes flying, landing in a new area of the battle field where the fight continues. In Famitsu’s example, it just so happens that the player’s partner character is waiting where the opponent lands, allowing the player to continue the attack for major damage.

Hello flying get!

In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Tekken Tag 2 is featured, and there are portraits of Kazuya, Bob, Xiayou and Zafina. The article also touches upon a couple of the gameplay mechanics that will be implemented into the title.

Like in Tekken 6, items will be incorporated into the game. They won’t just change the appearance of your character, but you can also use them to attack your opponents. In TTT2, there will be a large number of variations for each item. Tag attacks will also play a big part of the game, especially because TTT2 will be taking Tekken 6’s wall system. Basically, you will be able to smack opponents into the wall and eventually destroy the walls (like in Tekken 6) but you will be able to continue your combo after this happens by calling in your partner for support. You’ll have to call your partner before the wall collapses though, so there will be some timing required.

The rage system will be making a return as well, but things won’t work exactly as it did in Tekken 6. This time around, it will be your partner who will go into rage mode once the requirements are met. Oh yeah, and the requirements to go into rage mode will depend on the characters in your team. So it may be easier or harder to activate it depending on your character choice.

With Tekken Tag Tournament 2 being shown at AOU very soon, it's expected that we would see a bunch of new media for the game, and Famitsu is giving us just that. They uploaded a ton a of new screenshots for the game, and also have a write up of some of the features in the game. Unfortunately I don't speak or read Japanese so I cant give you a rundown of the article, but you can check out all the screenshots by clicking here.

I gotta say, those modern pics of Jun and True Ogre are both a blast of awesome and nostalgia :)

I am deeply disappointed that nobody made a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 thread.

That would suggest anyone likes Tekken.

The only Tekken game worth playing will be Street Fighter VS Tekken.

I'm not even a big Tekken fan myself but that's just an ignorant thing to say.

I'd be excited for this since I enjoyed the few times I got to play TTT, but I suck horrendously at 3D fighters which was made incredibly evident by T6...

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Oh hell yeah, with True Ogre in the game this is gonna be a game of 12-hit combo proportions.
Also, CHICKEN.
Everyone who played Tekken on the PS just fell to their knees.

Ha.
I could say the same to you about Street Fighter, and I don't even like Tekken that much myself.
I mean, in Tekken I at least feel I'm playing a FIGHTAN GAEM (even if the [tornado fang]ing matches are over before I know it), while when I play Street Fighter... well, let's say I fall asleep quickly. I haven't played SF4 yet, so I dunno if it's actually different from the rest.

Overall, I prefer KoF, GG and to an extent BB.

I approve of the return of Moonlit Wilderness and this game. If only people still played T6 competitively in my area but it's overshadowed by Marvel and Super 4. :/ Hoping this revitalizes the scene.

To try something new, is to explore your true potential.

Funny thing: Never played anything past Tekken3, except for one game of Tekken6 which cut out on me.
Doubt I'll play this installment, but GOD YES True Ogre.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Had alot of fun with the first one waaaaay back then. Nostalgia only goes so far, guys, but I'm betting this'll be a good game to play around friends and have some fun. I'm kinda losing interest in MvsC3 for now.

You have about 3 weeks to prepare your body for some Tekken Tag 2 awesomeness!

According to the latest issue of Arcadia magazine, which is due for release tomorrow, the first location test for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be held sometime in the middle of May at a location that is currently unknown. The location as well as date will be announced on the official Tekken page once things are ready. Namco, unlike the heathens at Sega, are always very accommodating when it comes to providing several locations for their test builds across the country, so I’m personally expecting them to announce a Tokyo, Osaka and Kyushu location test very soon.

OK, I'm late to the party. Sorry for that.

In fact, it's been years since I last touched Tekken. Tekken 3, PS1 to be precise.

What happened to Heihachi? Why is he young again?

He was old last time we saw him in Tekken 6, so I can only assume it has to do with his voice actor dying.

Oh. I thought it was about some lore-stuff being terribly twisted, him becoming young again due to some magical facelifting spells or devil genes or some other devices.

Voice actor dying makes more sense though.

(An) Ogre showed up in Tekken 5's Devil Within game. That's about it.

I haven't been following this game as of late. A lot more focused on Street Fighter x Tekken.

I think i'll pass on this one, unless critic scores say otherwise.
