« on: July 13, 2015, 02:05:33 AM »
This is a sad day for Nintendo fans everywhere.

Damn, and he seemed fine earlier this year despite the issues with his Bile Duct. Didn't think that would do him in.  :'(

Gaming / E3 2014 Megathread.
« on: May 31, 2014, 08:03:14 AM »

So yeah E3's coming up soon (June 9th-12th). Figured its time for a thread.

The major press conferences are on June 9th, with Nintendo forgoing that for a Direct on the 10th much like last year, hopefully they'll not [tornado fang] the streaming up so much again.

E3 Event Schedule

(All times are Pacific Time Zone and Tentative.)
Microsoft's conference is June 9th at 9:30 AM.
Sony's is June 9th at 6PM.
Nintendo Direct is June 10th at 9AM.

Apparently IGN's got a list of what's going down for the entire show. Which is in the spoiler underneath because its a long list that mostly consists of 'Secret E3 Game'.

Roleplay / RP Character Discussion: Love Interests
« on: August 30, 2013, 05:10:58 AM »
Quickie's thread on Tragic Backstories got me thinking on something that pops up often in said backstories and is also a prevalent force in pretty much all RPs, Love Interests.

What are your thoughts on love interests? Do you see them as simply romantic foils or as characters with more than just "I love so-and-so" to them? What kind of process do you use when developing a love interest? Do you base them off of an existing character or are they original?

I'm sure there was more I meant to put here, but for now this will work. Anyway, I hope I can create some discussion.

Roleplay / General RP Discussion topic
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:13:09 AM »
This topic is for talking about RPs and stuff related to the RPs. Potentially even talk of potential new RPs.

I might use this to post potential story ideas.

Entertainment / The Lets Play Thread.
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:05:32 AM »
Short introduction for those unaware:

Lets Play is basically a person (or group of people) playing through a video game with commentary. It can either be informative, funny, or both. They mainly exist in Video form but for some games a Screenshot LP's exist (Primarily RPGs). These originated on Something Awful and are still highly popular to this day.

Examples of great LPs:

Sonic 06 by Pokecapn
(Somebody get me some more!)

Of course, with good LPs there are also the bad, and outright terrible, LPs. For those, we have Restupurae and Chip and Ironicus, which riff on things from awful Camcorder LPs, to the comically bad framerate LPs. Though that's not all they do.

Retsupurae's YT Channel
Chip and Ironicus' YT Channel

Game Grumps are kind of Lets Plays... I guess. Though Egoraptor and Jontron are far funnier when they're doing their own things.

Uhh, I guess that's pretty much it, sorry if it sounds a bit like an advertising plug or something. Lets see some more LPs.

Edit: woah, sticky huh?

Emulation / Wii Homebrew on a Wii U
« on: December 14, 2012, 06:53:40 AM »
So, for those of you out there who don't already know, you can install Homebrew Channel on a Wii U using the Wii Mode.

Naturally, it only works in Wii Mode, but a lot of things don't seem to work anymore.
You can still use emulators, or play Homebrew games, but so far I can't seem to get any of this to work.

-Installation of cIOS files
-USB Loader, so playing my Wii Backups is a no go.
-Riivolution doesn't work, so it appears I'm also not playing Customized Brawl.

So, anybody else find anything not working?

Adding it to the OP post just so more people will find it.

It appears Disney might be setting its sights on Hasbro.

Roleplay / Yet another completely unoriginal sandbox RP.
« on: August 30, 2012, 05:32:15 AM »
I would love to say this is the same as the last one, but that's up to you to decide but don't make it the same since that last one was awful.

Do what you wish, if there are no replies within 48 hours i'll just delete the thread so we don't have another stagnant RP floating around.

Gaming / Sony Patents In-Game Advertising
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:56:14 AM »
Well... Not in the "Product Placement on Billboards" sense.

Full on "Stopping the game to show you a TV-style advertisement", yeah we'll see how the public reacts to that.

Emulation / Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 running on Wii Hardware.
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:42:09 AM »
Well, this is pretty neat.
[youtube]bobXr5nRT2s[/youtube]
Too bad the guy who made this doesn't seem to be interested in releasing it.

So this is a new thing, I was trying to play brawl to test out some new Texture hacks and Music I got. So I boot up Riivolution and load the game with file replacements (Noted by the lovely buzzsaw noise coming from the disk drive being worn out), and as soon as the game loads, nothing, just an occasional blue light flicker from the Disk Drive (Which I found annoying that whenever I used custom music the drive started rocking out), so I reset it and try again, nothing.
I go in and delete a few pointless things (Strap Menu, Controller Page, etc.) and try again, the game loads the strap menu and appears to load, as soon as it would load the Title/Opening video, nothing, just black.

This has never happened before, I'm positive it's not the files that are messed up so I don't know why my Wii is suddenly refusing to use the modified files and opting to just blackout like that? It's not like there have been any updates in ages.

Entertainment / What are some Commercials you hate?
« on: February 20, 2011, 01:21:12 AM »
Something I believe this place used to have but for some reason doesn't have it anymore. Anywho, tell us some Commercials you hate (and state reasons why).

I kinda hate those "To the Cloud" Commercials Microsoft keeps churning out. The one with the family with the dumb [sonic slicer] of a mother saying "Windows gave me the family nature couldn't" after a fake photoshopping of a picture (Yeah, like its THAT easy.) You unhappy with your damn family then why even bother dressing them up in fake "perfect family" getups and making stupid ass pictures to put on facebook, ungrateful [sonic slicer].

The one where those people are stuck in an airport is stupid too, The dude freezes like a robot, steals a different dudes Laptop, and uses it to watch some stupid Celebrity scandal show? Why show off something so "High tech and innovative" being used for blue-collar garbage by people who are clearly not living in a small metal box with wheels? (I have nothing against trailer parks or people in them, In fact I have a good friend who lives in a Trailer park, and not him nor his family are at all stereotypical trailer trash.)

16
Entertainment / What is your opinion on Digital Copies?
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:29:23 PM »
With the release of the Back to the Future Trilogy Blu-Ray (And also the Back to the Future Digital Copy Trilogy) I've heard lots of negativity towards the inclusion of the Digital copies for the movies included. Like some people saying they take up space, or they aren't worth it and inflate the price on movies.

So, what are your guys opinions? Do you love them, Like them, couldn't care, or want them removed forever?

Off The Wall / Sweet Fizzy Goodness (AKA Soda): What do you like?
« on: July 14, 2010, 05:25:17 PM »
I decided with a thread about Pizza, what the hell? Lets talk about Soda's we enjoy!

Personally, I like Cola and Citrus pop predominately (I merge Dr.Pepper into Cola because its similar.). My main brands being Coke, Pepsi, Mello Yello, and Mountain Dew. I also enjoy a good Root Beer, depending on the brand (A&W Over Barqs, Sprechers over Pretty much everything.)

So tell us what you like about soda, complain about soda, be a soda snob, anything goes.

(I know there is already a "What are you Currently Drinking topic, but that covers more than just Soda.)

Emulation / I have a file problem here...

To save time I'll just steal my post from XeNTaX...

I have the ISO of Lost Colors (Ripped from my copy of the game.). And I see some strange files called "DMY1, DMY2, and DMY3" Now, I'm led to believe that these stand for "Dummy 1, Dummy 2, and Dummy 3" If these are dummy files, Why are DMY1 and DMY2 almost 1 GB in size while DMY3 is half that? I'm convinced that the text for the game, along with a majority of the coding is held in these 3 files, DMY1 holding the Geass Route and the Kuro no Kshidan route (Its a visual novel game in Japanese.), DMY2 holds the Britannia Route and the Ashford Academy Route, and the DMY3 is the one with the Blue Moon Route. The Reason DMY3 is so small is because only one route is in here, due to splitting the last two routes between the PSP and PS2 version. Can anybody crack open these files for me? I'll try to upload them, but they're massive, so i might have to heavily compress them into a RAR file. its taking a long time just to put onto a thumb drive.

Yeah, I'm thinking of trying to help out some translation of this game. But there are no files where text could be other than these odd 3 DMY files (No File Extensions or anything, just "DMY*"...)

Files are in this: Its large so its been compressed somewhat, its about 2.5 GB total (Uncompressed)...

Emulation / How Do I convert ADX to MP3?
« on: June 01, 2010, 12:52:13 AM »
Got the OST for Code Geass Lost Colors all on my PC, but I want to listen to it on the go, but its only in ADX Format, where can I get a converter (That is free, mind you, last one I got was one of those Trial versions that does only a small part of the file.) To transfer these tracks into MP3 Format?

I put this here since its sorta emulation related... since I took the files from an ISO made from my Disc of the game.

Gaming / Nintendo Patents new peripheral...
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:03:29 PM »
Quote
Nintendo's prime directive for this current console generation has been to broaden the ways in which Wii owners interact with their games. Beginning with the motion-sensing Wii Remote and Nunchuk, the Japanese company has since introduced a Balance Board, which has taken on the functionality of anything from a bathroom scale to a pair of skis, and a Vitality Sensor, which Nintendo announced at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

An artist's representation of the device.
All that's fine and well for getting gamers to interact with their Wii in different ways, but as noted by Nintendo in a patent filing with the European Patent Office spotted by gaming site Siliconera, sometimes people just need to get on their horses and ride. Bemoaning the fact that most horse-riding simulations are often monstrous contraptions, Nintendo states that: "It would be desirable to provide an inexpensive, convenient way to realistically simulate, in the home, riding on horseback or on other animals."

As outlined in Nintendo's patent filing, said device involves attaching motion-sensing controllers to an inflatable cushion or other sitting device. Giving the example of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Nintendo states that the accelerometers on the controllers would be able to sense a gamer's motion as he or she bounces on an inflatable cushion. In response, the game being played on the Wii would respond accordingly, mimicking the motion of a player riding an animal in-game.

Here's how the cushion might work.
Force feedback could also be incorporated into the device. Nintendo notes that the electronic, inflatable cushion could be outfitted with haptic feedback transmitters, which would vibrate in response to occurrences within the game. Taking it one step further, the patent also details a way in which the game could jostle the rider around to mimic a bumpy in-game ride.

Nintendo's horseback riding simulator patent was initially filed with the European Patent Office on January 15, 2009, and was published on the organization's Web site in late July.
