It says closed beta, but they're taking everyone who signs up from what I've seen. I registered like an hour ago and got accepted.
I'd make this thread all pretty with loads of Wakfu art, dem hips, dem buns, and helpful links, but no one ever posts in my gaming threads. So you get to google it.

EDIT: There seems to be some issues with registering right now, I've tried several times but get no confirmation about a successful registration.
Both in FireFox and Chrome for that matter.
EDIT EDIT: Silly me, the login and username can't be the same.

What worries me is they might have a technical reason for that, which means HORRIBLE PROGRAMMING

Yeah, no. I'm 100% sure it's to prevent hacking. Having a login name that is different from the one you use on the message board would probably stop a lot of hacking attempts. I guess they're assuming the entire user base is going to pick dumb passwords.

Also, I enjoy this game.
but I find it's not very helpful in guiding newbies, I'm quite lost as to what I do next.

No one has any idea what they're doing yet.
I've been trying to figure out what to put my points into. Everything seems so useless compared to what the monsters are doing to me. At least I don't have to worry about fighting skills, since it looks like they level up through use.

I just put most of my points into HP, and then tried a few other things.
It's closed beta after all, they'll probably wipe the characters upon major update to open beta anyway.
That's how it often goes.

How far did you get Rad? I can't figure out how to sell anything, and my inventory is almost full.

I'm only level 8, I've been figuring out all the professions, to get a feel for this and that.
And adventuring to the furthest reaches of the continent.
As for selling, you use your haven bag.
Set up stalls inside, you'll need a craftsman or whatever to build the stalls.
Not a particularly great system for selling items.
It's also hard to come by Kama, so I'm sure not everyone has a whole lot to spend either.
Instead of selling all my items, I just invested a bunch into different crafting professions.
and dropped the ones that I didn't need/want.

I did some research and it looks like every piece of Karma has to be mined. So the economy is literally based around the players.
Any idea where the miner profession guy is?
Also once you get around level 14 we can team up and kill stuff if you want.

You gotta travel way out there to Jaffin to get the Mining profession, it's quite the walk.
Also, I found myself with this whole "You're in enemy territory" thing going on, so I couldn't use any crafting stations.
So I'm thinking "huh, wonder what I do about this?" then some guy attacks me and takes me out in a couple hits. Now I'm in prison serving out a 5 minute sentence. Digging out rock to return my citizenship to normal before that 5 minutes is up.
Now I travel across the country to get back to where I was going, so I could craft some armours.
But oh noes, my passport is invalid! So it says I should go to HQ to get it sorted out...I get there...I have no idea who to talk to, or where to go to get things "sorted out" and everything I look up leads me nowhere.
So I've got an invalid passport which prevents me from traveling pretty much anywhere, this has pissed me off greatly.

I really don't know, but from now on I'm checking my citizenship status after every action I take.
Cut down a tree, CHECK.
Kill an animal, CHECK.
draw water from a well, CHECK.
Anything could be considered criminal activity.
