Title: Tron's Music Workshop 2.0
Post by: Rin on October 30, 2012, 07:19:42 PM
Yeahhh... this is like, a new thread for my music stuffs.
Since theere's so much of it, and as before, I'll rather have it separated from my "art" thread.

I will try to keep this thread organized this time, meaning I will update the first post once I post an update.

Welp... let's a go-go.

Take this as you will, but I think you should consider getting a SoundCloud account or something, so people don't have to download the files and put them in their player of choice to listen to them.

Ladd tells me I should do the same thing with the MIDIs on my website for the same reason, actually...

I did this.

It's NO made using neogeo samples(Because i'm far from done with them), but some cps2 ones and a typical LQ gm soundfont.

Gonna improve a bit later etc.

Tell me what you think.

Hmmm... Final sounded familiar, until I saw your comment on it being a merger of the first 2. 8D
And yea, Final sounds like a harmonious merger of the 2, nice.

Of course the second piece is nice too. :P

As for Dio, has a bit of the Castlevania vibe.

Thanks, PB. Appreciate you stopping by. : >

Anyway, something BlazBlue related.

Celica (a character from the BB novels) who fell in love with Ragna (who went back in time, lost his memory, and you know, sacrificed himself to protect Jubei and buy time for The Six Heroes to win the war against The Black Beast).

As for Celica, she fell in love with him, and then went on to wait rest of her life in hope of possibly reuniting with him.
She started a church, where small Ragna (from the present, not the one from the past), Jin and Saya lived. Then Terumi happened, killed her and you know the rest of the story.

So yeah, this.

A kinda different expansion on the previous one.
In fact, the previous music was just something I did to already figure out what kind of theme I should give Slur... and I can go and create over nine thousand different versions for each and every of her "HERE HAVE A NAVI" scenes...

The above is the first version where she gives out Beastman...

plz comment I feel so alone here.

Ahem, seriously, I'm having a hard time differentiating your fan-made themes, and the official ones.
Very fitting pieces you have made for the YGOs, and Slur's was fitting too.

Thank you, Wily. It means a lot to me. : >

I guess I am getting better... maybe.

Anyway, as I previously said, I'm going to do a theme for each and every instance of her giving out a navi:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaYKGGCYJYQ

This is from episode 4. Previous one with Beastman was from episode 3.

And this is just something additional:

A bit a different version of the theme.

That's actually really good.

If you don't mind some criticism, I think it could sound even better if you went for a faster tempo towards the ending of the theme. To put the person more on edge when they listen to it.

I see what you're going for though, and obviously it's up to you.

A remix of a song from .HACK GU.

I used the vocals from the original in it, because... well, original is MOSTLY vocals.

Look up HACK GU - HOPE OF DAWN to hear the original.

That is to say, this remix has so many problems it hurts me to think about them. I'll try to sort them out sometime later, but yeah.
Some comments would be appreciated.

Well there are group violins, but I'm considering now to play with this and see what a solo violin could do to the song.

Thanks.

NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT BRO

Also crazy [Top Spin]s make the world go round.
Like what he's doing now.

As for the theme, it has that... Buildup to suspense vibe, although a few times, it seemed to change tunes rather abruptly.
Besides that, quite fitting.
Title: Re: Tron's Music Workshop 2.0
Post by: Rin on July 12, 2013, 04:13:12 AM
So, because I'm lazy and don't want to work on hundreds of things at the same time, I'm putting most of my projects (except the Treasure Hunt and one more) on the backburner.

That also involves Steinveiz and Karmilla.

But this is my music thread, so why bring that up?

Well... because besides Treasure Hunt RPM Style thing, which is both a music project and a writing one... I am already working on something additional.

It's music.

For a game that will never be, but who cares?

It's called...

COSMIC DISCOVERY

This thing will be divided into three parts/episodes. Each will have roughly the same style of music and certain numbers of tracks.
Ranging from stage themes up to battle themes.

The idea of the game is based around it being an action RPG where you visit various planets, fight monsters/bad guys and the like.

It's all actually a part of me trying to expand my musical horizons. Since the Treasure Hunt will most likely have a more wacky music, this project is aiming have a lot of electronic sounds mixed here and there with regular instruments. It's going to differ greatly from my typical music "Style" and the music which will be in Treasure Hunt..

So yeah... enough talking, here's the first completed track for EPISODE I:

Planet Taenos - Forest
https://app.box.com/s/dd31ch78z688i6emvyh4

This is a pretty calm track, that takes place in a pretty forest, which however is "artificially raised". Some of the trees have special electronic mechanisma build into them, and the like.
It's a pretty slow, but I like how it turned out.

Here is the second track for EPISODE I:

Planet Taenos - The Mysterious Man, Ash! [Battle 1]
https://app.box.com/s/j8rpo7bu9c57chezi1eu

A battle theme.
On Planet Taenos a seed of something horrible has been planted, as a result, everyone who lived there suddenly disappeared.
The entire planet has been devoid of human life.
In the Prime City of Taenos, you find a mysterious man who calls himself Ash. His objectives unkown, but he seems to think you are a threat.
As such, he fights you.

Hey, thanks. I appreciate it. : D

Aaanywayyy...

Here's the third song for EPISODE I:

Planet Taenos - The Dead City
https://app.box.com/s/i554yxteqqlbihc9owsk

After you have defeated Ash, he retreats through a portal using some kind of unknown technology. You decide to look for signs of life, or at least some clues as to what happened to all the people.
The city looks like any other, except devoid of any human life. As you go through it, you can feel someone watching you... or is it just your imagination?

So yeah, this track is quite... dark. But not in the way most of my orchestral songs are.
Use of dark synths, pulsating and the like. I think it builds kind of a nice atmosphere.
But what do you guys think?

Here's a little test something.

The first slow part of this, is a separarte song actually. It's supposed to be like a, you know, arcade game cutscene song before the battle.

Here's my take on Kite's theme from .HACK//IMOQ

I hope you like it. If not, I'll just try again, with different take on this.

As for my personal feelings towards this track:
I believe it lacks something, but I'm not sure what. I tried experimenting, but nothing really added to this song, and only seemed to [tornado fang] it up. So here it is.

I tried to kinda convey the "dramatic" struggle of Kite, while trying to rescue Orca from the coma. All his battles with phases of Morganna. Though I could have gone for more heroic approach. Eh.

I really like it, maybe find someway to fit that creepy bell from the Phase battle themes but otherwise I don't have any criticisms. Not sure why but I could see this music easily fitting in a PS1 era Capcom fighting game.

As for the bell... I actually just wanted to keep it with the CPS2 samples, but if I'll ever make a theme song for this guy with regular instruments, I'll keep that in mind.
And it's good you're imagining it with Capcom fighting games in mind, because this is the kind of thing I have in mind when I made this. And other CPS2 things of mine. They're supposed to be at least a bit like old Capcom fighters music.
