Oh so there was already a topic on this... Interesting. Good to know.

I wouldn't mind this one TBH, but whatever.

Wow.... These forums got a major overhaul, didn't they? I wonder if its global, or something. I suppose some stuff looks neater? Though it's hard to get used to something new looking.

Fan Games / Re: Mega Man 9 remade as an NES ROM
« on: May 15, 2020, 04:22:47 AM »
Late post, but I got nothin' better to do.

Anyway, I don't see this gonna happen anytime soon without direct knowledge of the game. Also, there's no proof of the project being into existence (other than some discord server). This is just speculation at this point.
Yes, a MM9 actual NES game would be neat, but would require old tools and reverse engineering to be able to format the game into an NES game, which lot of ppl don't have these days. Unless they write new programs that's specifically made to work on this game.

If it's just going to be a 'direct' port of an existing game, I'd prob leave it to PC/Mac versions instead of trying to make an old NES rom. I'd find it incredibly harder to make an NES rom from scratch than to make it a PC/Mac game IMO. But I get where you're going that you really want an NES rom version of MM9. I just....... really don't see that happening though. Unless there's some actual proof. Otherwise I find this hard to believe.

Like, myself I've always wanted to develop an NES style Mega Man game, but probably that can be played on modern devices. Though the NES is not modern, we can still "fake it" by other means to make it look like an NES game by matching the art style alone.

IMO, I think you might get more fans if it was something other than an NES port. Otherwise, there are other ways to play Mega Man 9 these days if that is all that this is.

Fan Creations / New fangame: Mega Man Royale
« on: August 13, 2019, 06:46:58 AM »
So there's a new Mega Man fan game being worked on called Mega Man Royale. It's basically like what Super Mario Royale is/was, but with Mega Man game mechanics.

As beta tester, I'm not allowed to say much other than what WP or Luigi (also coder) themselves have posted on the forums there. So I'll just post some of the topics that they have shown from 1.5 so far. ;)

- https://megamanmaker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5799 - Concrete Man + new weapon

- https://megamanmaker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5493 - Rain and Flower Presenters
- https://megamanmaker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5653 - Water variation

Long story short, basically we're getting an aesthetics update, as well as a few MM9 stuff.

Umm.... Thanks......? I guess? The video links don't work (on this forum, anyway). Don't know what to say about that.

Anyway, if the fan game was ever continued in development, I would prob make a new thread about it. But sadly there hasn't been any much progress other than what is shown on the screen shots. So like, there's no reason for any celebration for such a basic thing.

Just some FYI. Anyone who is still following the game, the current version of Mega Man Maker is v1.4.2.1.

However, they are currently working on v1.5 at the moment, which will include some new features. As I've become one of their beta testers, it's going to be one of the biggest updates we'll probably see to date. :)

Haven't worked on my MegaMan game, even though I built a new engine, which I stopped working on in July
https://www.deviantart.com/n64mario84/art/Silly-Little-MegaMan-Game-Engine-Prototype-Screens-753609821

Here is a little gimmick involving ladders I was thinking about for the game engine demonstration.

The game engine itself is pretty much self explanatory. Though the fan game I wanted to make with this didn't go beyond the game's engine, unfortunately. :P

The majority of it was designing an options screen, with an NES palette selector to give players their choice of their favorite NES colors in this fan game that never was. :-/

Who's actually going to notice those during just a regular/casual play through? It's nice that he fixed it, but it seems like a very small change.

Alright that's fair enough. :)

So in any case, I uploaded the NES palettes I have collected, or made on my free time.

I'll put this in the top post as well, for if anyone is curious. ;)

Yea I noticed that too. That's why i said I was messing with them mainly for Mega Man games, as they don't seem to work that well for other games.
For the bottom right corner's colors, as I said it is the MM9 palette, with a slight decrease in brightness (darkened by -8 from the original colors), and a darker Mega Man default palette.
Dark Blue: R-0,G-96,B-208 (Based on Rockman's blue colors from NeoGeo pocket game, Battle & Fighters)
Light Blue: R-94,G-176,B-240

I wasn't sure what all the rules are on these forums for sharing palettes for NES emulators, but I can upload the ones I have done if you want. :)

Rockman Series / Fiddling around with MegaMan/RockMan NES Palettes
« on: April 02, 2018, 08:12:30 AM »
So I've been playing around with NES palettes, and I was able to obtain 3 different sets from various resources.

This one appears to be from a set that is most likely used in the style of Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10

It seems to be the most accurate to my point of view, from comparing other palettes.
It appears to be the set that I used for some of my recent Mega Man sprites.

This one comes from RockMan Complete Works released in Japan

I have no idea the origins of where Capcom came up with this set at the time.
It doesn't seem to match any other NES palettes I came across.

This one comes from the more recent Mega Man Legacy Collection (3DS version, specifically)

This appears to be a slightly more brighter, standard YUV palette, or unless what I was playing the game on made it appear brighter.

Doing some more research on NES palettes, I came across this little site, which lists even more sets.
http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Famicom_Color_Palette
Not that it matters much though, since the Mega Man ports don't use every single possible set in existence.

I just thought this was an interesting find, that throughout all the classic 8-bit games based on the NES format, the colors have been somewhat inconsistent.

Any way, I've compiled some different Mega Man based palette files for use on any NES emulators. Here are the proof of screen shots for the palette files, for what each palette file looks like in game.
Click on the image for animation comparison cycle.

For those that may be color blind, you probably won't see any difference. But as a color hoarder, I actually do see all the various differences between each palette file.

The bottom right image colors is custom made. Modified from the original RockMan 9 palette to give him his modern day colors, and the brightness is slightly darker than the original as a personal preference.

I have a ton more palette files I have collected over the years, but these are ones specific to the Mega Man series.
I actually have like 3 different folders containing various NES palettes. One folder containing general NES Palettes, 2nd folder containing JUST MegaMan variant palettes, and 3rd one that contains 16 palettes from the Famicom Color Palette Wiki page. They are all very good, and have their own unique color styles. :)

I have uploaded the NES palettes I have collected, or made on my free time.
NES Palette Collection
Includes all the MegaMan based colors, as well as the ones found on the Famicom Color Wiki page.

The game graphics look alright, but it's not 8-bit. Also, this will probably be the first NEW Mega Man game without Comcept's Keiji Inafune.

The new model changes when acquiring new weapons is kinda neat, but It's not the same tradition of color change only. Even the classic Mega Man X had color change only (besides armor upgrades) of its time.

I don't know how I feel about this.

The game got an update to 1.1.0! Lots of new features. Also, a new website.

Name got slightly updated as well, due to trademark issues (Surprisingly NOT from Capcom)

That's a little bit much for a giant MegaMan plushie. I bought a smaller MegaMan plush for a much more reasonable price.

Anyways, that's what they wanted to make, good for them.

Mega Maker game has been released today! Lot of people already uploaded Mega Man levels. Seems to be a pretty fun game. Lot of missing things, kind of limited, but I guess I expected that for a 1.0 release.

So, you can pretty much make your own Mega Man levels, using 1-6 game graphics and enemies.

Thoughts?

I got    to be Arikado's profile a couple of times coming in. Apparently as I noticed it happens more often at night time.

Seems normal now, but just coming in here just to say that I HAVE been Arikado at least once or twice just on the main forum page only.

Off The Wall / Alternatives to OBS, for desktop streaming.
« on: March 18, 2017, 07:07:00 AM »
Okay, this is going to seem silly.
I remember there were a few software tools back in the day when I was streaming my MegaMan game engine programming screen as I was working on the coding with StarsimsUniverse for a fan game I did back then. But now for the life of me, can't recall what the name of that stream software was. It is LITERALLY driving me crazy. I can't recall the name of something like this I've used in the past, and now don't even have any past references of it.
I don't think that software I've used to twitch stream my MegaMan programming even exists any more. Though a lot of people suggest OBS to stream the desktop to twitch, but I am looking for alternatives for that. Besides, I don't think OBS has the option for you to do a region/selection of a window, just the entire desktop, or entire/current window if memory serves.

So.... Are there any alternatives to OBS (possibly free) that can live stream a selected region of a desktop, or window screen, or entire desktop to something like twitch.tv? I looked around, but most of them now days you pay for something like this. Though the one I used in the past was not the top of the list of its day, but it was free, and it worked. I just HATE that it bugs me that I can't remember the name of that stream software I used to show Starsims (and others) when I was working on it back then.

The reason I ask is, I want to try to get back into doing that. I've accepted an offer from someone who wants to work on a new MM themed fan game, and had thoughts about doing a live stream session while we work together to plan the games structure.

^ If you have Mario Maker, just go to course world, then [Makers] tab, and then hit the tab that says (M)Official. That gives you all the official courses, including the dog house course that you posted. :)

Oh, well if MMZ1 was already out, then that makes sense. I guess next year if they decide to do this to release MMZ3, I take it. Otherwise, if they stop doing this yearly before they hit MMZ3 or MMZ4, we would only see those 2 titles.

25
They chose Zero 2 out of all the 4 zero games? Okay then.....
