A.) turn into nightime all of a sudden. 
B.) What happened to the "mysterious person" or I'm gonna go on a limb and say I'm taking care of business.

A) It got changed into the Battle View of Final Fantasy II.

B) The NPC was caught in the crossfire (Battle View blocks everything else, so you can't tell who's gonna get hit unexpectedly). You'll see what happens in the next one.
