Wait, what does it say at the very end of the topic name?

That's right...

Cave Story is getting a complete 3DS make-over.
With video interview right here (shows Egg Corridor, plus ~~Quote~~ and Balrog fighting each other.

The game will still be played as a 2D (or 2.5D to some of you) side-scroller game, but will make use of the 3DS features, and all the characters, items and environments has been completely redrawn from scratch. Some of the environments like Mimiga Village and Egg Corridor has a more darker cave look to them compared to the brighter original look of the PC version. The music will be remade too, but with extra care, so that they sound as awesome as the original music.

The game is said to come out sometime after the 3DS launch day, so anytime between March and June, maybe closer to Summertime.

Talk about Daisuke's (Pixel's) other projects here too, like Ikachan.

I think this might be more for newbies to the series. There's also the whole novelty aspect of "3D popout/looking class effect with 2D gameplay" for anyone who likes that kinda quirky stuff.

Just beat the game the second time (w/ the Mimiga mask. It's actually a bit tougher w/out the booster), now to get the true ending.

tbh, I love the game, will I beat it another 3+ times?

"GR: Now that Cave Story has been/is being ported to three different platforms, is there any interest in or intent to make a sequel down the road?

DA: The original Cave Story took me five years to create, and the testers that were playing the game, they wanted to have something even more difficult than the original stages. So I created the Hell stage, and put so much effort into it that I basically said, “all right, this is the grand finale for Cave Story for now.” And then I wanted to create a few other games on the side, which I was able to in the past few years. So I’m satisfied with that. It’s now been 10 years since the original Cave Story came out, so I’m now thinking that maybe it’s time to start thinking about a sequel for Cave Story. There’s a very, very good chance we’ll see a sequel."

Intresting thing I just noticed today (This may be old news), but the Wii Version of Cave Story got a nice update, the Music is a little different in some spots (The Cave Story Theme Remix is different.) and overall it feels a little more crisp, but that might be me playing it on the Wii with Component Cables.

Also, the main menu is different somewhat.

I'm about to get an internship, and I figured out if I save 75 bucks of every check (since I get paid weekly) I'll have enough for a 3DS in a month!

As much as I love Cave Story, I'm gonna have to wait and see some gameplay/new stuff besides graphics to see if this would be a good purchase.

Do hope that there is a prinny mode as the quote led me to believe. And some different dialogue for when playing with said character. There should be some humouress dialogue in it if they do let us play as a prinny...especially if it's just a small funny quote when picking up Curly's panty's.

Also, bring back Huzzah, Nicalis...bring back Huzzah.

Though I admit "Oh Yeah!" is a bit funny. since it makes one think of the Kool-Aid jug and the similarity that the two characters seem to like to break a wall (or mostly ceilings in Balrogs case) everytime they announce themselves to the party. I'm with everyone who thinks "Huzzah" is a bit more iconic for the character.

Of course like Night said I could alternate between the two, or just pretend he's saying 'Huzzah!' instead of 'Oh yeah", like I've been doing so far...it's not gonna be the same though.
