Yes, do Grandmaster but reclass when you max that. Also recommend getting some of the DLC maps, particularly Lost Bloodlines and Smash Brethren. And Rouges & Redeemers after that.

So should I keep Chrom the way he is now?

Also, regarding DLC, all I have are the 3 Champions of Yore maps and EXPonential Growth. Couldn't I just spam the EXP map?

For EXP? Yes.

The ones I mentioned have special Skills/Classes you can't get otherwise.
